Van Morrisonのオリジナルアルバムはライブ盤も含むと46枚(2019年3月時点で)だと思うけれど、今のところすべてコンプリート。御年73歳にして2018年には新作2枚もアウトプットし、ファンとしては追っかけるのも楽ではないけれど、うれしいことだ。
Duets: Re-Working The Cataloguesの発売に合わせて2015年にシンコーミュージックから刊行されたVanのMook本は往年のコアなファン向けというよりはむしろ、Van初級者編という体だった。文句を言うつもりは毛頭ないのだけれどもMook本に期待する資料性が不完全で、特に客演の部分が今一つだったので、今更ながら補完的な意味でここに記すこととする。

なお、「生誕70年の節目に、孤高の歩みを全アルバム評で総括」とあるものの、EXILE PRODUCTIONから出された オリジナルアルバム LIVE AT AUSTIN CITY LIMITS FESTIVAL(2006年)が抜け落ちていたことも付記したい。もっとも本作品はVanのコンサート会場とオフィシャル・ウェブ・サイトでしか購入できず、しかも販売期間が極めて短かったためちょっとしたコレクターズ・アイテムで世界中のコアなファン垂涎の一枚となっているのだが。

更に難癖をつけるのであれば、映像関連の記載が一切欠如。数えるほどしか正規品としてはアウトプットがないと思われ、網羅的に掲載することもむつかしくはなかったはず。



廃盤も多く、客演盤のコンプリートはかなり困難ではあるが今でも中古レコード屋を気にかけながら見て歩いている。客演を含むVanのレア作品を集めたBootlegのコンピレーションCatalog Strays 1965-2000なる3枚組のCDが出回っており、タイトル通り2000年までのゲスト・アピアランスは網羅されている。オークションでたまに見かけることがあるが、コアなファンだったら10,000円位ならば買っても損はしないだろう。
